The New Year is here which means it's time to reflect on the past year, and as we move forward with our list of resolutions, what are you focusing on?
There are the usual ones: work out, drink less, clean up our diet, travel more, and get rich. Don't get me wrong, those all sound great, yet in order to make real, lasting effect there are some questions you need to ask yourself in order to really understand what your goals are and to be able to stick with them.
I've been down the road a time or two (I'm positive you can relate!) so you know there is a difference between wishing something (e.g. a Vision Board) and making it into a reality. To get the results you truly want, you need to dig deeper and I'm here to give you the questions to make it happen!
First, let's start off with reflecting a bit.
What was your favorite memory of the past year, and why is it your favorite?
What brought you the most joy last year? Moving into another year, it’s essential to look at the past with gratitude so you can implement that with a fresh start!
Reflecting on the great times allows you to be intentional about incorporating those memories into making even more.
What was your most proud moment of 2022? Your least?
Whether you won an Oscar, had a baby or even just survived the year, it is crucial to reflect on what made you proud and what did not.
If you had to borrow money from your parents, racked up debt, or just chose the wrong haircut, lean into learning and growing from those experiences.
Instead of feeling guilt and shame, reframe these experiences with a new outlook and use this as your mantra heading into 2023.
”I never lose. I either win, or I learn.” (You’re welcome!)
Now, let’s look forward…
What do you want to accomplish in your professional life next year? Personal life?
Outline your goals for each part of your life and write them down. Even if they change throughout the year, it’s a reference point to look back so at the end of this year, you’ll be able to see how much you accomplished or what changed since the last time you made a true list of all the desires of your heart.
What is something you would like to overcome this upcoming year?
Scared of heights? Go skydiving. Procrastination? Well… We have a blog post for that! (The Truth About Procrastination) No matter your fears or shortcomings, find a way to help yourself grow and learn.
You don’t have to go to the extremes like skydiving, dig deep to come up with a way and a plan to help you grow as a person.
Remember, the more you grow, the more your business does too.
What do you want to learn?
I always recommend to learn something useful and fun! Want to learn how to better run your finances or streamline your business? What about learning a new language or diving deep into a topic you’ve always wanted to know more about?
Knowing what you want to learn in both areas allows you to cultivate skills to not only manage your time but increase your motivation as well!
Finally, here’s one to to help you both reflect on 2022 and project into 2023.
If you could change one thing about the last year, what would it be?
NOW is your chance to change it! You are only one decision away from a completely different life. Instead of beating yourself up, let it go so you can move forward with confidence and ease…
Without the burdens of the past. It’s useless to carry it around, especially when the rest of your life is a completely blank page!
Find a word or phrase, and live by it!
This isn’t so much a question, but an action for you to take. Take time to find your mantra or word for 2023 and use this as your inspiration and motivation beyond just the resolutions.
